Today in Science we have been learning about lichen which grows on trees and can brake down on rocks. There are 10000 different type of lichen. It smells like a minty bark type of thing with some white fungi on the lichen, we didn't find out if the white stuff was poison. But the white stuff did have no smell. It only grow in some parts of the world cause of the weather

Nelson Mandela Hero Story
Nelson Mandela
For my hero I picked Nelson Mandela, he was a brave hero that would never give up on what he wanted to change, he was modest, brave, trustworthy, and inspiring for what he did for South Africa. South Africa is a country that has around 50,000,000 people living at that time, around 80% of that were black people, the black people didn’t have as many rights, as white people in South Africa. But one hero wanted to change that and his name was Nelson Mandela.
Nelson Mandela was born on the 18th of July 1918 and died December 5th 2013. But in those 95 years he changed South Africa for ever.
It first started when only white people could play rugby, if there was no more room on a bus a black person had to get off for a white. So then Nelson Mandela protested the government for black people to have as much rights as white people, he got denied and got in jail for 27 years. In the hard 27 years you had to break rocks, you practically have no bed, and the best food you could get was bread.
When they let black people finally voted, all the blacks voted for Nelson Mandela, so Nelson Mandela became the first black president of South Africa, he then inspired others with his words, he was the first black president for 6 years between 1991 and 1997. He let black people play in the rugby world cup, that year they won. He then visited the jail that he stayed in for 27 years. But when he meet all the guards, he didn’t torture, kill, or poison any of the guards, he just forgive which surprised everyone. That takes real courage and self-discipline of what he did.

Camp Poem
Whizzing down the watch slide like rocket taking off, holding on like Tarzan going down the flying fox when I took a bite of the apple crumble, my face turned into the grim reaper, or tuna fish still alive rolling around in your stomach, the water in the lake was as slow as a truck with no petrol. When the girls came out of their tents for dinner it was like a onezie parade. The was more laughter than tears, even though we had a dinosaur there and was freezing cold, there was excitement and lots of fun.

Poem
Where I’m From
I am from A New Street It’s barely noisy
only the builders working behind with their nail guns.
I am from you would always smell
the curry sausages from the kitchen table
I am from you would always wake up and go outside
to smell the Te Mata Mushroom Farm
I am from Every house in my street
is modern flash and full of old grumpy folks
I am from you would walk in the door
and see a magnificent kitchen
I am from you would always be amazed
by the shape and the size of the house.
I am from you always relive the memories
of the house you lived in as I was young
I am from you would walk in the door
and see a magnificent kitchen
I am from on the left hand side
you will always see a white fluffy cat
I am from a place where you sit on the deck
having a wine or a beer or two
I am from a place to chill, relax
and unwind from the world

Extension maths Road Trip
For Extension Maths we have been doing some Financial Literacy, our task was to plan a five day holiday for Miss Hooper and her Husband to go on for there holiday ( She chooses one of them to go for her holiday. ) So Elliot and I planned our holiday on Taupo and windy Wellington. We had a budget of $1500 to use for, petrol ( Start of with 500km full tank )accommodation, activities and food.
Day 1
Activity: AC Baths $17
Accommodation Huka Falls Resort $107
Food $25
Petrol $0
Day 2
Activity Hot Pools $23
Accommodation Huka Falls Resort $107
Food $32
Petrol $0
And so on you do for five days. It was a real challenge to keep under your budget because food and accommodation takes over have of your budget. Then for petrol which is $300 which equals $1050
Activities where not cheap in Wellington. Our total budget got to $1467 Under the budget Yes!
The Winner was Charlotte and Jamie Which was to Roturua

White Mouse
This is Matthew and my poem about world war II the ask was to use as much words as we can in this list and so we thought a poem so hope you enjoy. :)
Freedom Fighters everywhere
Pilots controlling their helicopters.
The Navy army invading the rivals territory.
Secretive allies tricking the team.
Close Escapes then being shot, your heart broken.
Maybe for two minutes it’s neutral but then one team has controlled the war
They are determined to win
They have effective guns with a good medic team.
Shooting down helicopters then the pilots parachuting out.
Fake traps everywhere then out of know where then when you know it’s over… it’s over.

My SSVI Lego Rocket Ship
On Wednesday the 5th of November 4:30pm I was working on my ship that took me around 11 hours.
I made it all out of wool, ( Except for the decorations ) I thought of making a cool lava feature with glass and of course lava, But I had forgotten that when lava and wool touches together it will spread and destroy everything, I didn't have enough time to start again so I asked my mum.
She thought of using Lego, I called my mum a legend then quickly got started. This was the finished project.
I really like my idea because it was Unique and no one else never thought of it.
If I could do anything different s to make some rooms because I didn't have enough time to put it in

Aggressive Overfishing
Question 1
What were you happy within your presentation?
Properly using the time and the cooperation in this work was really good.
Election Reflection
This is my ad reflection so after we finished voting we had to answer these questions and so here they are hope you enjoy :)
Election reflection sheet.
What am I most proud from our election campaign?
When the presentation told us that we won with UNIque
Why?
Because there was so much work into that so it was so worth it
What do I think we could have done better?
Maybe get more people attention by our ad
How could I have done this?
By maybe taking some parts make them a bit funny so they recognize us
Why did I vote for the party I voted for? I voted for NZES because that had good ideas and they didn't just work in the the classroom, they worked outside the classroom so was really good.

Extention Maths
This week for maths we have been looking at the area of different shapes like Polligones triangles and circles
To get the area of the a circle to first to get the center of the circle to the outsides length. For example 4.25m
So To work this out you have to go A= PI times 4.25 times 4.25
So pi is 3.14159265359
So 3.14159265359 times 4.25 equals 13.3517687778 so to make it easier lets have it at 13.35 then times 13.35 by 4.25 So that equals 56.7375.
So that is how you get the area of a circle if you like this piece of writing it that comment button and tell me

Exposition writing
This is my writing where we had to choose a topic per sway a person to do something so hope you enjoy
My friends and I just love Slender man, it is in our blood, we eat, sleep, drink, breathe, the game, it is so addictive. We have Slender Man plush toys, we have made our own fan club online, and most of all we write and chart up how many pages we get per game, also per day, per week and etc. We get the average amount of pages per game.
So then we discussed about a new and better thing for Slender man. We knew there was Slender Man Shrek version and all of that but what would make someone rich… We thought of a movie, if the movie is so addicting, then people will tell people and those people tell other people then bam, you're a millionaire.
This will get a ton of people interested and would make a perfect date for making your fearless girlfriend jump up and scream. Or make your friends pee their pants until they cry.
So next time you make a script about a movie think, Slender Man.

Then you sort out your information into Topic Paragraph, Introduction, and Conclusion. When you have finished that you show it on anything you want so this is my one about the sense of smell.
Sense Of Smell
Inside your nose is the olfactory epithelium which means smell device. In the smell device there are more than 10 million scent receptors The receptors send messages to the brain about the smells. Your sense of smell can help you understand your world. You know when you’ve burnt the toast and the smell of cut grass alerts you that summer has finally arrived. Your sensing while you pinch your nose shut it doesn’t taste the same does it? Smell also makes food taste better.
Topic Sentence 1: Smell Something Everyday
Our smell reminds us of stuff that we have smelt in the past, like perfume could remind us of our mother because she might put on way too much or our stinky socks could reminds us of our brother because he never washes his clothes and they stink. In your smell factory you have over 10 million scent receptors in our body. The scent receptors can distinguish up to 10,000 different smells.
Topic Sentence 2: Interesting Facts About Our Smell
Your nose is the most sensitive out of all the senses, and a women’s smell is more strong than a man’s sense of smell. One reason we remember these smells is of course stored in our brain and so when we smell the same smell it reminds us of that particular smell.
Topic Sentence 3: What does nasal mucus do?
We know nasal mucus as snot, boogers etc. But the nasal mucus helps keep dust out of our nose and lungs. When we sneeze it is because of dust, pollen etc, got past nasal mucus and got into our lungs.
Conclusion Of Our Smell
Our sense of smell is very important in our everyday life, also that the process of smell is very technical process. Also that boogers ( nasal mucus ) is actually useful for something than being annoying.

Soccer: First we did soccer, for soccer we were practicing our dribbling skills by going in and out of cones first we walk it then we jogged, then we had a fun competition. The way how to dribble is do little kicks the take control of the ball and when you weaving around pass it to the other foot.
The next Soccer skill was passing you pass with the inside of your foot and you don't wont to toe hack it because you can break your toe. ( Like I want another thing broken). We split up into groups and passed the ball around with the right way.
Also we learn't how to header properly. So you use your forehead to hit the ball with. You use your tummy muscles for the power so we split into groups of 7 and one of use was throwing the ball at each other to practice our heading skills. After that we had a game of soccer with three balls and we won 3-1

Extension Maths Pythagoras
So If there was a triangle like this.
A= is top right
B= Is bottom
C= The Left Top
You would want to know what C=
If A= 12 Square and B=20 Square
So you do 12x12 and 24x24
12x12=144
24x24=576
Add the two numbers up 144+576= 720
Then you find the power of to equal 720
26.83281572999748 round to the nearest tenth or whole
To nearest whole = 26
To nearest tenth = 26.8

We did this because we had to used descriptive language
We were packing our bags in the car, picking my last minute clothes and getting ready for an awesome birthday week. I was taking my most awesome best friend in the world Luke to Australia for my 8th birthday (best present in the world just saying), It was his first flight in his life because he is in a family of five so with the mum only working half shifts . He was very nervous, because his was away from his family for eight days (well nine because we fly in at 10 at night). So we were in Taupo going to the Auckland Airport when Luke wasn't feeling well so we stopped suddenly as soon as my mum got out of the car, splat! The slimiest most smelliest vomit I have ever seen with the worst part was it went all over me. Luckily we got the message from Luke's mum that he can get car sick. We bought some fancy towels,( why would we bring fancy towels to clean puke up.) We got a big rubbish bag if he blows again, but luckily that wasn't necessary. After we got passed the gates we parallel park our car into a big car safe centre for when we get back, our car will not be stolen. As we got to the Auckland airport waiting centre Luke was amazed of all the architecture and the quality between the Napier airport and the Auckland National airport. Because when you're at Auckland airport, you don't get much better architecture than this my mum said to Luke. We got some lunch after we arrived with Luke Dad and I have KFC. So when we were about to leave we had got some lollies for the plane ride. We didn't get much because it was a Three in a half hour plane ride and also we had other food in the bag, but mostly they give food to us! We boarded the plane luckily we got on the plane first or else we would be stuck in people traffic like a big boxing day sale at Noel Leeming but it smelt like a ho barbecue . When we got to our seat my mum was in the window seat Luke was in the middle and I was the closest to the aisles.. But my dad was in a random seat with strange people. One had a big afro like that guy of LMFAO guy it was really funny to turn around to dad and not see him because of the afro. The other guy was looked like a business person with a briefcase and a tuck on. So we got to the stage where it starts to build up speed and then blast off we got off the ground and up in the air we went and up Lukes voice went. A blast of scream filled the aisles, Luke was screaming with fear. Everyone was looking at me because I was closest to the ailes. My headphones were on but I still could hear the creaking scream of Luke voice. I was watching a movie on this touch screen ipad that is in front of you and you can do other stuff like game and much more. Then I saw the eyes of tens of people staring at me. I felt so embarrassed.
