Nelson Mandela Hero Story

Nelson Mandela For my hero I picked Nelson Mandela, he was a brave hero that would never give up on what he wanted to change, he was modest, brave, trustworthy, and inspiring for what he did for South Africa. South Africa is a country that has around 50,000,000 people living at that time, around 80% of that were black people, the black people didn’t have as many rights, as white people in South Africa. But one hero wanted to change that and his name was Nelson Mandela. Nelson Mandela was born on the 18th of July 1918 and died December 5th 2013. But in those 95 years he changed South Africa for ever. It first started when only white people could play rugby, if there was no more room on a bus a black person had to get off for a white. So then Nelson Mandela protested the government for black people to have as much rights as white people, he got denied and got in jail for 27 years. In the hard 27 years you had to break rocks, you practically have no bed, and the best food you could get was bread. When they let black people finally voted, all the blacks voted for Nelson Mandela, so Nelson Mandela became the first black president of South Africa, he then inspired others with his words, he was the first black president for 6 years between 1991 and 1997. He let black people play in the rugby world cup, that year they won. He then visited the jail that he stayed in for 27 years. But when he meet all the guards, he didn’t torture, kill, or poison any of the guards, he just forgive which surprised everyone. That takes real courage and self-discipline of what he did.

Camp Poem

Whizzing down the watch slide like rocket taking off, holding on like Tarzan going down the flying fox when I took a bite of the apple crumble, my face turned into the grim reaper, or tuna fish still alive rolling around in your stomach, the water in the lake was as slow as a truck with no petrol. When the girls came out of their tents for dinner it was like a onezie parade. The was more laughter than tears, even though we had a dinosaur there and was freezing cold, there was excitement and lots of fun.

Poem

Where I’m From I am from A New Street It’s barely noisy only the builders working behind with their nail guns. I am from you would always smell the curry sausages from the kitchen table I am from you would always wake up and go outside to smell the Te Mata Mushroom Farm I am from Every house in my street is modern flash and full of old grumpy folks I am from you would walk in the door and see a magnificent kitchen I am from you would always be amazed by the shape and the size of the house. I am from you always relive the memories of the house you lived in as I was young I am from you would walk in the door and see a magnificent kitchen I am from on the left hand side you will always see a white fluffy cat I am from a place where you sit on the deck having a wine or a beer or two I am from a place to chill, relax and unwind from the world By Liam McCarthy That was my poem
